A showdown between the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Chief Executive Officer, Halakhe Waqo, and Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Kerioko Tobiko looms in the Parliamentary Committee on Finance and Planning over the anti-graft body report recommending prosecution of Auditor General Edward Ouko from office.
The investigations report, forwarded to DPP by the anti-graft agency, recommended that the Auditor General be prosecuted over an audit machine vault in his office and alleged misappropriation of public funds through irregular procurement.

However, Tobiko declined to prosecute Ouko saying the report by the EACC did not warrant such as move as it lacked in both merit and evidence to institute a prsecution.

The EACC report alleged that Ouko bought the machine at a cost of Ksh 100 million while the market price of the machine was estimated at Ksh 18 million shillings.

The Parliamentary Committee has since invited Waqo and Tobiko to shed light over the contrasting decisions.
