Court detains police inspector arrested over murder of journalist Erick Oloo

Ugunja Deputy OCS Sabina Kerubo who was arrested in connection with the brutal murder of Star Newspaper journalist Erick Oloo was on Monday arraigned at the Siaya Law Courts.

The Chief Inspector of police appeared before Siaya Principal Magistrate James Ong’ondo but did not take plea.

This is after the prosecution requested for more time to complete investigations into the matter.

Magistrate On’gondo ordered that Kerubo be held at Siaya Police Station for 14 days.

In their sworn affidavit, the officers probing the gruesome murder of the journalist whose body was found in Inspector Kerubo’s house on November 21 revealed that they intend to hand over the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) on Tuesday next week.

Five people have so far been arrested in connection with Oloo’s killing. Last week, the same court directed that Victor Ogola Luta and Franklin Joel Luta who were arrested on November 21 and 22 respectively be held for 11 days pending conclusion of investigations.

Two more suspects including Kerubo’s daughter and househelp are yet to be arraigned.

Erick Oloo was laid to rest at Nyasanda village in Ugunja Sub-county on Saturday.
