Siaya governor puts land grabbers on notice

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has put on notice all land grabbers within his county, telling them to vacate now or be forcefully removed.

Speaking in Siaya Town, Rasanga said that it had come to the county government’s attention that a lot of public land was grabbed during the administration of the defunct local authorities, adding that some land had been sold to public developers.

He pointed to the case where land that had been allocated for the construction of a fire station in Siaya was allegedly grabbed, and warned those currently occupying the land to vacate or be evicted forcefully.

The governor further vowed to recover all the grabbed land, noting that his government has set aside Sh6 million to conduct an audit of all public land within the county and recover all the grabbed land, irrespective of whether it has been developed.

He further noted that his government is planning on supporting the police by fuelling their vehicles to enhance patrols within the town and its environs in an effort to curb insecurity across the region.
