Siaya Governor accuses ODM members of giving him a raw deal

Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga has accused the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party members in the county of giving him a raw deal in terms of political support.

Rasanga regretted that despite being elected on an ODM ticket during the 2013 General Election, some party members and officials in the county have not supported him in his bid to serve the people of Siaya.

Speaking at the home of Ugunja MP, Opiyo Wandayi, during Ugunja ODM officials meeting, Rasanga wondered why some party officials are now backing the bid of other individuals eyeing gubernatorial seat on an ODM ticket come the next elections.

Rasanga pointed out that in advanced democracies, when a political party has a member in a leadership position, members of the party do not offer support to other aspirants eyeing the same position on that particular ticket for the period the leader is still  in the office.

Present during the occasion was the area MP Opiyo Wandayi who voiced his support for Rasanga, saying that the governor is among a few ODM party governors who have given the party proper support.

Wandayi said anybody who wants to vie for governorship position must tell people what he wants to do.

However, Gem MP, Jakoyo Midiwo, who spoke during a different occasion in his constituency warned governors from Nyanza region not to expect unanimous support during the next elections.

He told them that they will have to provide a blue print of what they intend to do to the people before they can get re-elected, saying that Siaya County is not an exception.
