Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga Wants Security Devolved

Rasanga says that the security challenges the country is facing currently can easily be dealt with at the grassroots level.

Speaking in Rarieda Sub County during a development tour, Rasanga condemned the recent Mandera killings and urged the national government to allow the counties to play a major role in tackling security issues.

The governor also regretted losing family members in the Mandera bus attacks; a policeman and his wife who was expectant were among the passengers who were killed.

Rasanga added that it’s too unfortunate to sit back and allow some people who do not respect life to take over the country.

He regretted the fact that fifty years after independence Kenyans are still leaving under threats of insecurity.

Rasanga emphasized that the current security lapses can be well handled by county governments as it could easily identify criminals.

The governor further intimated that as much as the security of the country remains the responsibility of all Kenyans, it is also upon the security agencies to advance their ways of dealing with crime.
