Siaya man, 35, lynched for stealing chicken

A 35-year-old man was  lynched Wednesday, September 28 by angry Kachola Buoro village in Siaya residents for allegedly stealing chicken.

According to the residents, the suspect, identified as William Afwamba, was caught stealing chicken from the home of a Mr John Ogoye.

Ogoye said that he heard some commotion in his chicken house and when he went to check, he found the man packing his chicken in a crate.

The chairman Bondo Community Policing Committee, JumaAbuko, said that he went to Ogoye’s house and tried to arrest the suspect but was overwhelmed after he (suspect) strangled him before escaping.

“When he strangled me and ran away, I had to raise an alarm so that the residents could help. They came in numbers and pounced on him with kicks and blows until he died,” said Abuko.

Bondo OCPD, Paul Kiarie, said that they were alerted of the incident and removed the body to Bondo Sub County Hospital mortuary.

The police boss appealed to members of public to avoid taking the law into their hands.
