Siaya: Man arrested for allegedly attempting to defile 7-year-old girl

Police officers in Siaya County on Sunday arrested a 39-year-old fisherman accused of attempting to defile a 7-year-old minor at Ndeda Island.

Confirming the incident,  Nyang’oma Division Assistant County Commissioner Samson Akach said  Joshua Otieno Ochieng was caught red handed by the minor’s mother while indecently touching her  private parts in his house.

The suspect allegedly picked the minor from where she was playing with her other siblings saying that he was going to buy her some sweets, only to be reportedly caught trying to defile her.

According to the administrator, the mother raised an alarm alerting members of the public who came and arrested the suspect.

The man was detained at Bondo Police Station pending arraignment.
