Siaya man kills wife after funeral vigil

Police on Sunday (December 17) arrested a 41-year-old man who is alleged to have killed his wife in Lwala village, Siaya County.

Stephen Oduor Oloo is said have beaten and seriously injured his 29-year-old wife, Quinter Atieno, on Saturday, with the woman succumbing to her injuries on Sunday morning.

Area Chief Philip Opondo told Citizen Digital that the suspect and the deceased got into an argument after they returned home from a funeral night vigil within the neighbourhood.

The reason for the quarrel remains unknown with Chief Opondo stating that the dispute resulted in the suspect beating up his wife and leaving her in a critical state from which she succumbed.

“Neighbours then alerted members of the public as to the incident and the suspect was arrested,” he said.

Chief Opondo added, “The suspect was arrested and taken to Yala Police Station pending investigations. Once investigations are completed, he will be arraigned in court.”
