Siaya man may have killed wife, secretly moved the body: police

Police in Siaya County are probing the death of a 32-year old woman who was allegedly killed by her husband in Alego/Usonga sub-county.

Benta Nyar Taita is said to have met her death after a scuffle ensued between her and her 40-year old husband, Collins Odiemo on Wednesday night.

Her body is said to have been secretly removed from Nyalula village, Kadenge sub-location.

According to neighbours, Odiemo called the area Assistant Chief Mr. Jacob Ouma who issued a death notification slip before he allegedly moved the body from Nyalula village to Bama hospital mortuary in a bid to cover up her death.

The Assistant chief is reported to have accompanied Odiemo to the mortuary but later withdrew the death notification slip after members of the public started questioning why he authorised the removal of the body instead of alerting police.

Efforts by Citizen Digital to reach the Assistant Chief for a comment on the matter proved futile after he switched of his phone.

Area Chief at South Central Alego Ouma Osodo later stated that no arrest has so far been made in regard to the suspected murder.

He however declined to give more information on the matter noting that it is in the hands of the police who have already launched investigations into the incident.
