Siaya MCA denied access into Assembly despite court order

The Member of County Assembly(MCA) for South East Alego ward in Siaya, John Mboha, was blocked from accessing the County Assembly offices on Wednesday.

Mboha, who was earlier suspended over alleged involvement in gross misconduct, had managed to acquire an interim conservatory court order that barred the county assembly from suspending him.

Nonetheless, the court order was not deemed admissible by the security guards and officers from the assembly’s sergeant at arms department, who according to Mboha, were following instructions from the Speaker, George Okode as they did not allow him into the premise.

The agitated MCA, while speaking to journalists, demanded to know the period for which he was supposed to serve for his suspension.

On his part, Siaya Speaker George Okode denied claims of having issued instructions that Mboha should be blocked from accessing the assembly precincts.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the Speaker said the MCA would still not access the assembly as they are yet to receive any court order regarding his reinstatement.
