Siaya NASA supporters say Kalonzo betraying opposition unity

The move by Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, to present his presidential nomination papers has sparked jitters amongst NASA supporters in Siaya County.

Despite having assured that he is still in NASA even after presenting his presidential nomination papers to the Wiper party’s National Elections Board, members of the ‘Bunge la Wananchi’ in Siaya Town feel that Kalonzo was betraying the unity of the opposition.

Led by Sylvester Opondo, the members faulted the Wiper party leadership for insisting that the MoU signed between Kalonzo and ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, in 2013 must be honoured, noting that this seem to be a deliberate excuse by Kalonzo to start walking out of the supper alliance (NASA).

The leaders have since suggested that in order to cool the political temperatures within the NASA coalition, the co-principals should settle on a neutral person like Bomet Governor, Isaac Ruto, who has indicated willingness to work with NASA.

Another member, Alfred Odengo Okumu, stated that ODM party leader, Raila Odinga, can settle on Governor Ruto, then the rest of the co-principals including him can wait to fill the positions of the Deputy President, Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Ministers.

Speaking during their deliberations at the ‘Bunge la Wananchi’ in Siaya town, the leaders insisted that an alternative strategy was critical to prevent the looming crisis within NASA if they want to send the Jubilee administration home.

The ‘Bunge la Wananchi’ members stated that Kenyans are fed up of the hard economic times occasioned by corruption in the Jubilee government hence the need for a proper strategy that will change the leadership of this country.
