Six arrested, 50kg fake gold recovered in Kilimani

Detectives from the Flying Squad unit arrested four Rwandese nationals and two Kenyans after they were found with 50 kilograms of fake gold in Kilimani.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the suspects are aged between 26 years and 64 years.

“They were arrested at an apartment in Kilimani and will be charged once necessary process is complete,” the DCI said on Twitter.

They were identified as Niyitegeka Seveun, Dushimirimana Egide, Zilimwabagabu Jacques, Ngaragura Emmanuel (Rwandese) and the two Kenyans are Grace Wairimu & Erascos Katiku.

This comes less than a month after another batch of fake gold was also impounded in a safe deposit box at Barclays Bank’s Queensway branch in Nairobi.

Ksh.2.6 billion in fake currency was also recovered from the same deposit box.
