Six family members killed in house fire in Trans Nzoia

A man, his wife and their four children perished in a fire at their home in Kiminini, Trans Nzoia County.

Residents at Toll Station village in Trans Nzoia County woke up on Tuesday to shocking news of the death of the 74-year-old Absolom Kithaka, his wife Christine Nekesa and their four children.

Neighbors suspect the house could have been set ablaze by the old man following a domestic dispute.

The local chief told Citizen Digital that deceased, retired prison warder, had frequent fights with his wife.

“There was a case concerning their property and wanted to separate but they could not agree. I sent them to court to find further solution,” said Chisoli the area chief.

Endebes OCPD Wilfred Mogere led a team of police officers to the scene and helped in retrieving the bodies, promising to give a report after the conclusion of the investigation.

The bodies were moved to Kitale District Mortuary while the couple’s only surviving daughter is fighting for her life at Cherangany Hospital.
