Six gang members surrender to police in Likoni

Six youths who have confessed to be part of a criminal gang have voluntarily turned themselves in to police at Likoni, Mombasa County.

On Tuesday, the six accused local politicians of ‘using and dumping them’ adding that they now fear for their lives because they have seemingly served their purpose.

They were handed over by Haki Africa CEO Husein Khalid who urged security officials to protect them as they still have rights despite engaging in criminal activities.

Likoni Sub county commissioner Erick Wamilevu warned that a crackdown would be intensified in Mombasa to weed out notorious gang members.

According to Likoni MP Mishi Mboko, over 10 youths linked to criminal activities in her constituency have been killed; six others were shot dead by the police and another four lynched by angry residents.

She urged police and the Mombasa community to work together and address the vice that mostly involves the youth.
