Six injured in Muranga leopard attack
A stray leopard left six wounded after it attacked residents of Ngaaini Village in Maragwa Constituency, Murang’a County Friday night, April 28.
The six – who were rushed for treatment at Murang’a District Hospital – had face, head, hand and leg injuries.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Murang’a District Hospital nurse Salome Kimani said four of the six were treated and discharged, while two – who sustained more serious injuries – were admitted.
According to resident reports, the wild cat attacked one villager, prompting his son, Hesbon Mwangi, to lunge at the leopard with a panga.
The young man was overpowered, and the cat inflicted deep injuries on his face, thigh and hand.
Villagers quickly swung into action, killing the leopard.
It is yet to be established where the leopard came from.
The six have now asked Kenya Wildlife Service to offset their medical bills.
