Six killed, scores unaccounted for as gunmen attack Mandera bus

Six people were killed after gunmen attacked two commuter buses between El Wak and Wargadud towns in Mandera County Friday morning.

According to North Eastern Regional Coordinator Mahmoud Saleh, many other commuters were injured while others are still unaccounted for.

The attack is suspected to have been carried out by the Al Shabaab fighters.

15 victims are currently being treated at Wargadud hospital.

One of the drivers of the Tawakal buses that were attacked managed to reach Wargadud with four injured passengers.

Local leaders have condemned the attack and faulted security agencies for withdrawing police escort.

This was after an attack three days ago where five administration police officers were killed.
