Slain KBC journalist Betty Barasa laid to rest

Slain Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) video editor Betty Barasa has been laid to rest at her Oloolua home in Ngong area, Kajiado County.

A memorial service was held at the Montezuma Funeral Home before the body was taken to Oloolua for a private burial attended by family and close friends in line with COVID-19 health protocols.

Betty was eulogised as a person with a big heart who was always present to help. Mourners among them political leaders have called for speedy investigations even as the police say no arrest has been made so far over the incident.

She was shot dead at her home in Oloolua on April 7.

Sources privy to investigations informed Citizen TV that detectives who are handling the case are pursuing a possible assassination.

Detectives believe that the killing was a well planned assassination as the attackers seemed to have targeted her out of six other people in the house including a friend.

According to the postmortem results Betty died as a result of a single gunshot to the face which was lodged inside her head.

Detectives say that the recovered bullet head will undergo forensic analysis to help in tracking down the suspects who are still at large.

“What we promise is that we are working so hard, we are doing so well, and we will be able to at least have a break through,” Patrick Manyasi – Sub-County, Police Commander Kajiado North said on Friday.
