Some Rift, Coast MPs support Dori, Jumwa after expulsion

A section of leaders from the Coast and Rift Valley have come to the defense of Malindi Mp Aisha Jumwa after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party resolved to expel her from the party for associating with Deputy President William Ruto and campaigning for his 2022 presidential bid.

On his part, Magarini Mp Michael Kingi read malice in the decision of the National Executive Committee saying Jumwa’s association with the Deputy President was to bring development to Malindi residents, some of who also defended Jumwa.

His Soi counterpart Caleb Kositany questioned the genuineness of the March 9th handshake saying Jumwa and Mswambweni’s Suleiman Dori should not be victimised for working with Ruto.

Jumwa has however vowed to quit pushing for a by-election in Malindi even as supporters converged in her office urging her to move to court to stop ODM from ousting her from parliamentary committees.

Led by Boaz Kiir, the supporters faulted ODM saying that the party has now set a negative precedent in Malindi and Kilifi Counties.

The supporters now want Jumwa to be allowed to continue working further claiming that were it not for Jumwa, the ODM party would have not performed well in the last general election.
