Sonko gifts new motorbike, posho mill to man who cycled 223KM to Mois funeral

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has bought a new motorcycle and a new ready-to-go Posho mill for self-styled peace ambassador Nathan Ambuti.

Ambuti is the 76-year-old man who made the headlines after cycling from Butere, Kakamega to Kabarak, Nakuru  to attend the burial of the late Mzee Daniel Moi.

In photos posted on social media, Sonko said he had bought the old man a new bike to make his movement as a peace ambassador much easier.

He also bought the man a brand-new posho mill, to help him make the elusive coin and put food on the table for his family.

“Today my family donated a Posho Mill machine which he requested from me to start his own business in Butere, it’s a diesel powered machine which can Mill with electricity and diesel. We have already fueled his machine and ready to Mill,” Sonko wrote on social media.

Ambuti who joined a throng of mourners on Wednesday said his deep adoration for the late President led him in cycling from Butere to Kabarak ahead of the final send-off.

Dressed in a vintage KANU-flag tie and pinstripe suit, Ambuti embarked on the journey that took four days.

“I would not wish to miss the funeral of the man who was an icon of peace not only in Kenya but across Africa,” he told Citizen Digital.

Ambuti had left his home on his pimped-out bicycle adorned with national flags from different countries.

On the bicycle were different messages inscribed in white ink.
