Sonko: ‘Mkicheza’ we will give President Uhuru another term

Governor Mike Sonko says that the current politicking has made it impossible for President Uhuru Kenyatta to deliver the Big Four agenda.

While appearing on Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange Live (JKlive), Sonko said Ruto allies and Uhuru allies under the Tangatanga and Kieleweke factions had left Kenyans confused.

As a consequence of the constant politics, Sonko said it had become an uphill for the president to deliver his promises to the people.

The embattled governor who claims to have traversed the country with other politicians seeking the opinions of Kenyans on the ground said it is possible to hand President Uhuru another term.

This would allow him implement the Big Four agenda in its fullness.

“Mkiendelea na hii mchezo, the brother is still young, he is 56, na mkicheza tutampatia term ingine amalize hii mambo … (If you continue politicking, my brother Uhuru is still young, we will give him another term to finish the job),” He said.

Without naming names, Sonko said several other politicians were in support of the idea to have President Uhuru’s term extended.

At the same time, Sonko asked Kenyan politicians to drop the politics and support President Uhuru’s drive for a better Kenya.

He faulted the politicians who were anti-handshake, saying that 2022 was still too far for anyone to be seeking elective positions.

On his relationship with ODM leader Raila Odinga, Sonko said he is backing Raila because of the handshake and the fact that Raila shelved his political beef with President Uhuru for peace.

“I respect Raila Odinga because of the handshake. We are waiting for the final BBI report & fully support the initiative between the President & Raila. I am not seen in “mashinani” for the rallies as I am Nairobi Governor,”

The latest from Sonko comes amid speculations from BBI-critics that the report was meant to create additional leadership positions.

Further, the critics say that President Uhuru and ODM’s Raila Odinga plan to use the BBI to cling to power in 2022.

Raila has previously watered down the claims, saying the BBI is meant to bring Kenyans together irrespective of their backgrounds.
