Sonko offers man who tried sneaking baby out of KNH county job

Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday offered a job opportunity to the man who was arrested trying to smuggle his child out of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) over a pending bill.

Bonface Murage Wangechi was on Monday arraigned at Milimani Law Courts and charged with attempting to escape with the baby in an attempt to defraud the hospital a sum of Ksh.56, 937 incurred by the baby who was admitted at the facility.

He pled guilty but was, however, released on Tuesday and handed a three-month suspended sentence during which he will be on State watch and expected not to commit any other offence.

In a statement to newsrooms on Tuesday, Sonko – who is currently attending a U.N conference in the United States – stated that he would absorb the 22-year-old man at the county’s Environment Department.

This comes after Sonko Rescue Team on Monday evening took Mr. Murage’s wife shopping for the baby’s needs after their accrued bill was paid by a Good Samaritan.

The governor also directed his team to assist ailing Kenyan football legend Joe Kadenge who is currently admitted at a Nairobi hospital and ensure he gets “quality medical attention in order to boost his recovery.”
