Sonko, Shebesh Record Statements Over Gun Drama

The two leaders failed to honour police summons to appear before them on Monday over the incident.

This forced the police to issue warrants of arrest against the two last evening.

Sonko accompanied by his supporters was the first to appear before Kilimani police station followed by Shebesh who was escorted by her husband.

Property in the restaurant was damaged as supporters of the two politicians clashed at Caribea restaurant in Hurlingham forcing one bodyguard to shoot in the air

Detectives are investigating the justification of the bodyguard to shoot in the air during the clash.

According to preliminary investigations, the said bodyguard who fired in the air during the incident was one Khalif who is Shebesh’s bodyguard.

The bodyguard is a licensed private firearm holder and he risks being jailed for six months and his license withdrawn if he is found guilty.

Though there were no injuries reported, police have opened investigations into the matter.

Kilimani CID boss George Ojuka has confirmed that both leaders have recorded statements and are now awaiting their bodyguards to do the same.
