Sorry, Try Your Luck Next Time, Kenyatta Tells Police Recruits

State House Spokesman Manoah Esipisu says the decision by NPSC Chairman Johnston Kavuludi was made in consultation with the President.

Esipisu said that those recruited in the controversial 2014 process will not report for training in the police training institutions tomorrow, Sunday as earlier ordered by the President.

The State House spokesperson has instead urged 2014 recruits to also take part in this year’s fresh national recruitment exercise alongside new candidates.

Police Inspector General Joseph Boinett has endorsed the new recruitment announced by Kavuludi saying the national police service will work with NPSC in the exercise.

Hundreds of police recruits who were to start training on Sunday as directed by President Kenyatta camped at Uhuru Park today, Saturday, protesting the order.

The recruits argue they will suffer huge losses if they do not report to Kiganjo Police Training College.

The recruits say they have already done their shopping and others have resigned from current employment and travelled long distances in readiness for training starting tomorrow, Sunday.

The recruits said they will ignore Kavuludi’s order and report for training at Kiganjo.
