Sossion refuses to resign as chaos disrupt KNUT conference
Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion has rubbished the government’s order that he vacates the union’s post.
Speaking during the ongoing Annual Delegates Conference (ADC) in Mombasa, Sossion, who is a nominated MP (ODM) refused to quit saying Labour Cabinet Secretary Phylis Kandie wants to politicise the matter in a bid to split KNUT.
Police were forced to intervene after a fight erupted between delegates forcing the proceedings to be temporarily halted. The delegates are split between those supporting and those opposing calls for Sossion to relinquish his position.
CS Kandie, through a gazette notice on Wednesday asked Sossion and 10 other officials to quit their positions in their respective trade unions.
