Sossion tells lecturers to stay put until gov’t pays them
The Secretary General of Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Wilson Sossion, has encouraged lecturers to carry on with their boycott, which has paralysed learning and seen the closure of all public universities.
Speaking at a media press conference, Sossion, who is also the Secretary General of Trade Union Congress (TUC) faulted the government for failing to gratify the core public service of this country, inclusive of nurses who have been on strike for three weeks after doctors’ 90 days go-slow.
“We are telling the government you cannot wish away this trite action, you have to face it otherwise you luck legitimacy to govern,” said Sossion.
He braved the government, which has remained silent so far, to prove its legitimacy to its workforce and have the Ksh 10 billion Collective Bargain Agreement (CBA) signed and pay lecturers their deserved due.
