Speaker Ethuro dropped as Jubilee opts to back Lusaka
Jubilee has dropped Senate Speaker Ekwee Ethuro in favour of former Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka.
At a meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, the Jubilee lawmakers also agreed to back Justin Muturi to retain his National Assembly Speaker post with Kuresoi North MP Moses Cheboi to deputize him.
Also, the vocal Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has been endorsed to retain the National Assembly Majority Leader post with Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi deputizing him.
Senate Majority leader Kithure Kindiki will be moving to the Senate Deputy Speaker position with Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen set to assume the Senate Majority Leader position.
Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dulo has been endorsed for the Deputy Senate Majority leader.
The party, which boasts a majority in both the National Assembly and Senate, has endorsed Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali to be the National Assembly Chief Whip, deputized by former Runyenjes MP Cecily Mbarire.
In the Senate, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has been endorsed as the Chief Whip while Murang’a Senator Irung’u Kang’ata will deputize her.
