Speaker Justice Muturi’s home guard shot dead

A home guard attached to National Assembly Speaker, Justin Muturi, has been shot dead by his colleague in a scuffle at the Speaker’s residence in Thigiri Ridge estate, Nairobi.

Nairobi Police Commander, Japheth Koome, says the Speaker was not at home during the 1:30 am scuffle as he is in Mombasa attending the seventh Parliamentary Leadership Summit.

The police boss says that the deceased was shot nine times by his colleague.

Koome says the suspect has already been arrested and disarmed as police continue with investigations on the incident.

Koome said that the bodyguard was rushed to hospitals by neighbours but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The police boss says initial investigations show that the two were involved in a verbal altercation before things went out of control leading to the murder.
