Speaker Onyango Oloo released after EACC grilling over mall construction

Kisumu County Assembly Speaker Onyango Oloo was released on Tuesday after spending several hours at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) office.

Oloo was questioned in the ongoing probe into the construction of the Ksh.4.2billion Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA) mall in Kisumu.

He was former chairman of LBDA and left in June 2015.

Oloo maintained his innocence saying no extra payment for the project was done during his tenure.

He said he will fight to clear his name since every transaction he approved at the time he was the LBDA chairperson was above board.

Speaking to journalists, Oloo further said EACC must move with speed and get to the bottom of the alleged embezzlement of public funds.

Detectives on Tuesday raided homes of former LBDA officials, including a county assembly speaker and an MP.

Former LBDA Managing Director Peter Abok was also grilled by the detectives.
