Squatters Evicted In Makunike, Thika East

This is after a private developer allegedly evicted them from a disputed piece of land.

The squatters claim they have been living on the 100-acre land since independence.

They also said that the land commission has promised to help them own the land.

The laments of squatters come after a private developer ejected them from a 100 acre parcel of land forcefully.

The developer claimed to own the land.

Following the eviction, a woman in the village prematurely gave birth to an eight month old baby allegedly due to the shock from the explosives.

The explosives allegedly were used hurled by the private developer in the eviction process.

Other residents reportedly lost consciousness due to the loud bang,

Thika east deputy county commissioner Solomon Komen condemned the incident.

He summoned both the private developer and the squatters to a security committee meeting.

The residents have called upon the local leadership to intervene and come to their aid.
