Standard Gauge Rail Line Probe

Just how much does it cost to construct one kilometer of a standard gauge railway line? This is one of the key issues the parliamentary investment committee will be focusing on when interrogations begin on the 16th of this month. Meanwhile the government insists that at 323 million shillings per kilometer the modern railway now under construction in Kenya is cheaper than the one constructed in neigbouring Ethiopia.  But Nandi hills member of parliament Alfred Keter says on the contrary the Ethiopian line is a double route-track while the Kenya’s one is a single route-track. Alex Chamwada now breaks down the figures from both sides of the argument.
