Standard Groups Najma Ismail replaces Pauline Njoroge at Tourism Board

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has appointed Najma Ismail to the Tourism Regulatory Authority Board.

The Standard Group Journalist replaces Pauline Njoroge whose appointment to the Board was revoked on Saturday.

Najma Ismail is currently the Editorial liaison Manager at Standard Group Limited as well as the Education Goodwill Ambassador for the Kenya Education Fund.

She was appointed as the goodwill ambassador in August 2019 for the non-profit that gives high school scholarships to financially challenged students.

Najma Ismail is among the few Muslim women in Kenya who have broken the barriers in the media industry to be an acclaimed English news presenter.

A spot check on her Linkedin profile reveals that she has over 15 years in the media industry.

She describes herself as: “a women and girls rights advocate, content producer, mentor and communication consultant.”

Aside from the Standard Group, she has also worked at Radio Africa; Sound Asia Nairobi and Iqra FM.

Najma has a diploma in Public Relations from the University of Nairobi and is currently enrolled for a degree Communications and Journalism at Kenya Methodist University.
