Stanley Livondo reveals planned political comeback

Businessman and politician Stanley Livondo has set his sight on a new political path in the 2017 General Election.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen Digital, Livondo, who lost the Nairobi Senate bid in 2013, said he has shifted focus to Kakamega County where he plans to vie for the senatorial seat in the next election.

“Devolution has enabled us to go back home. That is why I have chosen to run for a Senate seat in my home county, Kakamega,” said Livondo.

Explaining his absence from the public eye, Livondo said he has been pushing for diplomatic resolutions to the wrangles between Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya and Senator Bonny Khalwale in a bid to unify the county.

“I have been politically active on the ground pushing for an end to wrangles between Senator Khalwale and Governor Oparanya as well as setting base for my 2017 political ambitions,” Livondo said.

His interest in the Kakamega senatorial seat comes months after the current senator, Bonny Khalwale, declared he would run for the gubernatorial position, held by Oparanya.

Governor Oparanya has welcomed Khalwale’s challenge saying they will fight it out at the ballot.

Livondo’s prominence began when he challenged CORD leader Raila Odinga to the now defunct Lang’ata Parliamentary seat in 2007, which he lost.

The constituency, which is now known as Kibra, is currently represented by Ken Okoth.
