Starehe MP Jaguar injured as traders, county askaris clash

Starehe Member of Parliament Charles Njagua is walking around with a foot brace after sustaining an injury in Nairobi on Wednesday night.

Jaguar, as he is popularly known says he sprained his right foot during the fracas between city council askaris and traders of Muthurwa, Marikiti and Wakulima markets.

Drama started when the askaris conducted an operation to remove traders who have encroached on the road. In the process, several of the traders’ leaders were arrested sparking chaos.

The MP-cum-singer was caught up in the ensuing chaos and injured his leg. He was rushed to the Karen Hospital where he was treated and discharged.

Jaguar demanded that the arrested leaders be set free even as the melee spilled over to Thursday.

“The arrested leaders must be released first before any negotiations can happen,” says the legislator.
