Step down? Not me! Gubernatorial aspirant tells his boss

Kwale County ODM gubernatorial candidate, Issa Chipera, has rejected calls by NASA running mate Kalonzo Musyoka to step down for Wiper Party’s Chilau Ali Mwakere.

This  comes after Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who was in Lunga Lunga to woo voters to rally behind NASA, called on Chipera to step down for Mwakwere in a bid to enable NASA defeat the incumbent Salim Mvurya, who defected to Jubilee.

The NASA co-principal also urged Chipera to step down saying Mwakwere would solidify NASA votes further promising him a job in the NASA government.

“Tell Chipera to step down, we talked with Raila and saw it wise that he should step down for Mwakwere, because opinion polls show that Mwakwere is ahead, so that we can send Mvurya home early in the morning,” said Kalonzo.

In a quick rejoinder, Chipera maintains that he is still on the ballot in next week’s General Election.

According to Chipera, there is no time left to step down for anybody further noting that they are from two different parties.

“I have not been called for any talks to step down. What I know is that I am in the ballot and elections are on Tuesday,” said Chipera.

Chipera further dispelled rumors that he has already stepped down terming them a cowardice move by his opponents.

On his part, Mwakwere asked the residents of Lunga Lunga to vote for NASA in order to have change in the country’s leadership.

“My symbol is umbrella and my party is WIPER within NASA. We will take home the Jubilee government,” Mwakwere said.
