Stop being hypocritical CS Kiunjuri tells striking doctors

Devolution Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri, has criticized the striking doctors terming them as hypocritical.

According to the CS, most of the striking doctors own and operate private clinics and that is why they are not ready to end the 74 day old strike that has paralyzed health services in the country.

The strike, he says, is an opportunity for them to reap big as patients now only have the private clinics as treatment option.

Kiunjuri also faulted former Prime Minister and opposition leader, Raila Odinga, for politicizing the strike to gain political mileage, a move he says shows their disregard for the Kenyans affected by the industrial action.

“The Collective Bargaining Agreement the doctors are clinging on is illegal and was initiated at a time when Kisumu Senator, Prof Anyang’ Nyong’o, was Minister for Health,” said Kiunjuri.

Kieni lawmaker, Kanini Kega, echoed the CS’s sentiments criticizing the doctors’ union of sabotaging the ongoing negotiations to end the strike.

The two were speaking in Kieni Constituency where they commissioned various water projects valued at Ksh 100 million.
