Stop being selfish, President Kenyatta’s campaigners told

John Muhia – the man behind coordination of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaigns in Murang’a County – has urged persons appointed to spearhead Uhuru’s re-election bid to bring on board everyone willing to work with the Jubilee Party.

Mr Muhia says some of the Uhuru re-election appointees, especially those based in Nairobi County, have resorted to scaring away those willing to join Jubilee so that they (appointees) “can share the seats amongst themselves and advance their personal interests”.

Muhia further urged city campaigners to welcome former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth to the Jubilee boat, saying alienating the 2013 presidential candidate would do harm to Uhuru’s popularity.

A section of Nairobi Jubilee MCAs last month urged Peter Kenneth to vie for city governor.

“We welcome Kenneth to Nairobi. We believe he has good policies and agenda to transform this great city,” Ngara MCA Mwaura Chege said.

Last month, Peter Kenneth announced that he will not run for President in 2017.

The 2013 presidential candidate said that he will support President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election, adding that he is considering running for governorship of Nairobi or Muranga counties.

Other Jubilee politicians who have expressed interest in Nairobi Governor seat include: Senator Mike Sonko, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, nominated MP Johnson Sakaja, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.

Water CS Eugene Wamalwa in August this year also announced his entry into the race for Nairobi Governor.

Jubilee is yet to back a single candidate for the Nairobi seat; party officials have assured contenders that IEBC will conduct free and fair elections.
