Stop criticising the military, Jubilee leaders tell Raila

The UhuRuto Express team has launched a scathing attack on the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) over what they term as ‘ruining the reputation of disciplined forces’ by alleging that government is planning to use the military to rig the August 8 General Election.

The Jubilee lobby group, which consists of sitting MPs who were defeated in the Jubilee Party nominations, now says that NASA presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga is on a mission to destroy the reputation of key independent institutions including IEBC so as to contest the outcome of the polls in the event that he loses.

Speaking on Sunday, July 30,  during a series of campaign rallies in Mikinduri, Kiguchwa Market, Kianjai, Athi, Maua, Maili Tatu and Kangeta in Meru County, the leaders called upon Kenyans not to be swayed by NASA allegations and maintain peace during and after the general poll.

Subukia MP Nelson Gaichuhie warned the opposition coalition against discrediting the Kenya Army, which has been highly ranked 46th in the World by the Global Firepower Military Ranks and 6th in Africa in terms of professionalism.

However, Othaya lawmaker Mary Wambui called upon the Meru residents to turn out in large numbers to vote for President Kenyatta.

“I dare Odinga to take the press where he says ballot papers have been stuffed and marked Jubilee already, failure to which he should apologize to Kenyans for making wild and dangerous claims,” said Ms Wambui.

Gichug MP Njogu Barua laughed off Raila’s assertions that the military was planning to cut off water and electricity in Kibera and Mathare areas in a bid to rig polls, insisting that the Jubilee government has been at the forefront of ensuring every Kenyan is connected to electricity and therefore cannot plan to derail the same process.

Mr. Barua accused the opposition coalition of planning to trigger chaos by consistently telling its supporters to vote and remain at the polling station on the election day.

“If you, Raila, were to win election and be the president of this country, how will you relate with the very military you discredited during campaigns?” said the Gichugu legislator.
