Stop killing terror suspects- Nkaissery

Internal Security Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery wants killings and mysterious disappearance of terror suspects and Al-Shabaab returnees stopped.

Nkaissery ordered investigations into claims by scores of families in the coast region that police officers could be behind the act.

A fortnight ago, Kaya elders claimed that over 50 youths suspected to be members of Mombasa republican council MRC have gone missing.

They believe the government security apparatus, may be aware of the whereabouts of the missing youths.

“Security organs are there to provide security to the citizens, that is their cardinal responsibility, not to make them disappear,” said Nkaissery.

According to the Internal Security Cabinet Secretary, those allegations leveled against the law enforcers are serious and must be thoroughly investigated.

“The amnesty is still continuing and we have had substantial number of returnees this morning I informed the security team that we should welcome them, the issue of harassment, I have given instructions that the youth who surrender should be given warm reception and we debrief them,” said the Internal CS.

Meanwhile two organizations that had been blacklisted by the government on suspicion that they were funding and aiding terrorists have finally been given a clean bill of health.

“Muhuri and Haki Africa are doing a good job, but when we did a background check, they were not registered with the NGO Council, so we told them to go and register and then continue with their business,” said Nkaissery.

This comes as the National Police Service conducted a reshuffle of the command structures in several counties, with Mombasa and Kisumu counties getting new regional commanders.
