Stop obsessing over Raila, ODM lawmaker tells politicians
Ugunja MP James Opiyo Wandayi has scoffed at politicians who claim that NASA leader Raila Odinga accepted the handshake to further his 2022 presidential ambitions.
Wandayi termed the comments as an obsession with Mr. Odinga and urged them to refrain from drawing his party leader into divisive politics.
“His excellency Raila Odinga has said he is not concerned with the elections of 2022 and is not involved in the premature campaigns. He wants to be given a break. Why do you insist on candidacy of an individual who is not on the table?” he posed.
The legislator, who is also Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary for political affairs was speaking in his Ugunja constituency.
He urged leaders from across the political divide to focus on other issues affecting the country.
Regarding the impeding by-elections in Ugenya constituency, Wandayi said he would back Mr. Christopher Karan whose election was nullified by the Supreme Court.
The Ugunja MP stated that as far as he is concerned, there will be no ODM party primaries for the Ugenya parliamentary by-election because they already have a candidate.
