Stop politicizing government projects opposition told

The immediate former Irrigation Principal Secretary, Patrick Nduati, has warned against rogue leaders politicizing government water projects which are part of the Vision 2030 flagship projects.

According to Nduati, the government embarked on construction of 140 dams in arid and semi-arid areas in a bid to increase water usage per capita but some of the projects have been marred by politics.

He has asked politicians to keep off such projects as they directly impact on the mwananchi.

The PS pointed out that Kenya is among the lowest water usage per capita with five cubic metres per capita annually and the government intends to increase this by 50% through water harvesting in dams so that locals can have access to this important commodity together with their livestock.

Nduati urged the legislators to work closely with both the county and national governments and pool resources together to achieve this.

According to the area law-maker, Kimani Ngunjiri, population increase is the major cause of water scarcity in Bahati and hence the need to have this noble project that will benefit more residents.

He slammed the opposition saying that they are always complaining of under development but this is not the case.

Ngunjiri urged the residents to always uphold peace and unity for development to thrive in the region.

The PS was on a fact-finding mission in Nakuru County where he was addressing journalists at Bahati dam which is still under construction.
