Stray Buffalo Shot Dead By KWS

The buffalo had strayed from Lord Delamere Farm into farms neighbouring the Anti Stock Theft Unit headquarters in Gilgil.

The buffalo was shot dead moments after it hit and damaged a saloon car at Leleshwa village.

Before the arrival of the rangers, members of the public had made efforts to chase away the buffalo oblivious of the dangers they were exposing themselves to.

Gilgil MCA Jane Wangui Ngugi who visited the scene praised the KWS rangers for their response saying that the animal was posing a great danger to the locals.

Cases of buffaloes straying from Delamere Farm have been rampant in the area.

The most affected areas are Kasambara and Mbaruk have raised concerns over frequent destruction of their crops by wildlife.
