Stray bullet injures school girl in Migori

A student at St. Albert Ulanda Secondary School in Migori County was critically injured by a stray bullet near Migori GK prison.

Confirming  the incident, Migori County Police Commander, David Kirui, termed the incident as an accident.

He said that the prison warders were shooting in the air as they pursued a convict who was escaping from the prison when a stray bullet injured the student.

According to Kirui,  the student, identified as Quinter Amondi, was passing near the GK prison when she was accidentally shot.

The student was rushed to Migori Level Four Hospital for treatment and later referred to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret for specialized treatment.

Kuriu said the police managed to get hold of the convict.
