Street boy crushed to death by a bus

A middle-aged street boy was on Friday, March 10, mid-morning crushed by a bus at the Kisumu Bus Park .

The street boy was run over by the bus he was hanging on after he slipped off when it was reversing.

Confirming the incident, Nyanza Regional Traffic Police Officer, Andrew Naibei, said preliminary investigations showed that the street urchin’s intention was to ride on the Climax Coach bus illegally to Nairobi.

He said, the boy – whose body was removed to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary pending an autopsy, has not yet been identified.

However, the traffic boss said the driver has recorded a statement with police as investigations into the matter continue.

The bus was towed to Kisumu Central Police Station and will be released after the investigations conclude.
