Street Hawkers Evicted From Nakuru

More than 200 police and county officers were deployed to Nakuru town to implement the eviction order that elapsed in December 2014.

The officers also sealed off a disputed bus park amid protests from matatu operators after several structures were demolished in the central business district on Saturday.

Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria led a group of traders in protests accusing Governor Kinuthia Mbugua of disobeying a court order halting the evictions and misappropriating monies meant for hawkers markets.

Nakuru Street Traders and Vendors Association Chair Simon ole Nasieku and Langa Langa Matatu Association Chair Ben Gathogo said that they will block the move in court.
