Property worth millions of shillings was destroyed and one student injured after a huge fire gutted down a 100-capacity dormitory at Barding Boys Secondary School in Alego/Usonga last night.

He stated that the students saw smoke billowing from the dormitory before they alerted their colleagues and members of the community who tried to put out the fire in vain as it was spreading fast.

Mr Makanda told Radio Ramogi that during the incident, one form two student sustained injuries while trying to enter into the burning dormitory to salvage his belongings.

The principal stated that the boy was then rushed to Siaya County Referral Hospital with severe burns on his hands, head and on the back before the hospital referred him to Kisumu County’s Avenue Hospital.
