Students Injured After Jumping From Storey Building over Terror Fears

According to Tawala Police Boss Joseph Biwott, the students, who were in the evening studies, jumped from the third floor of the building after a blast was heard in the vicinity.

Two of those injured have been admitted at the Iten Hospital while the other seven were treated and discharged.

Last month, a third year student at the University of Nairobi died, while 141 others were injured after a stampede occurred when a transformer exploded near the campus.

EXITING THROUGH WINDOWS

The students reportedly mistook the explosion for a terror attack, prompting them to scamper for safety with others jumping from the sixth floor of the building and others exiting through windows.

Last week, eleven students at Kitui Teachers Training College were injured in a stampede caused by barking dogs, after students imagined the dogs were barking at terrorists who had raided their college.

County CID boss Shem Nyamboki said the students panicked after hearing the dogs bark outside their hostels and tried to escape.

Some students jumped from the third floor of their hostels while others were trampled upon during the incident.
