Students Protest Over Delayed Loans

The more than 500 irate students were protesting the delay by the Higher Education Loans Board to disburse their loans

The angry students barricaded the road using stones, waving twigs and placards as they accused HELB of not disbursing the monies into their bank accounts

They now want the HELB boss Charles Ringera to resign for failing to honour his pledge to do so in good time

The students urged President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto to intervene and sack the HELB boss claiming he was incompetent.

Motorists had no option other than changing routes to avoid the rowdy youths.

The students engaged in a prolonged running battles with the anti-riot police officers from Nyeri Central who managed to disperse them from the road.
