Subsidize education in special schools, Gov’t told

Persons living with disability in Keiyo south sub-county have called on the government to subsidize education in special schools so that special needs children can access education.

Speaking at Chepkorio polytechnic ICT centre when they received equipment and support from county government, Chairman of the People Living With Disabilities (PLWD) in Keiyo South, David Kimutai, said that many special needs children are not accessing education because it is too expensive.

“We appreciate the support of county government, but we are concerned about the access to education. We want both levels of government to do something so that children living with disability can access education and become productive members of society,” he said.

Speaking in behalf CEC Monicah Rotich, Risper Kigen said that the county government is in the process of rolling out programs aimed at giving people with disability economically empowerment.

The disabled persons received chairs and utensils as the youth received PA systems and beehives.
