Suicide Bomber Kills 45 People In Afghanistan
The attack occurred when a crowd of people were preparing to watch the final of a regional volleyball tournament.
A spokesman for the governor of Paktika province told the media that the attacker had detonated the bomb amid a crowd of people gathering for a game.
The provincial governor’s spokesman also told the media that the crowd was made up mostly of young people who had gathered for a game.
He confirmed the incident and said that dead and injured civilians were taken to a local hospital.
He added that the governor requested that helicopters be sent from Kabul to take the most seriously injured for treatment in the capital.
President Ashraf Ghani, who came to power in September 2014, described the incident which occurred on Saturday as a "heinous attack".
US President Barack Obama approved guidelines to allow US troops to fight the Taliban and provide air support for Afghan missions.
