Super Tuesday: All systems go as 28 county assemblies pass BBI Bill

The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI)  Bill is now headed to the National Assembly and the Senate after it on Tuesday crossed the 24 counties mark required in law.

This comes as, by the time of publishing, at least 15 county assemblies simultaneously passed the Bill raising the tally to 28 counties, thereby christening what former Prime Minister Raila Odinga referred to as a Super Tuesday.

Raila during the weekend expressed confidence that the required 24 assemblies would have passed the BBI Bill by Tuesday, paving the way for it’s next step; the National Assembly.

Raila also fired shots at the Bill’s critics, encouraging them to continue opposing it, promising them a sound beating at the ballot.

County assemblies that passed the BBI Bill on Tuesday include Kakamega, Narok, Makueni, Nyamira, Taita Taveta, Kitui, Bungoma, Murang’a, Machakos, and Lamu.

Others are Nyeri, Nyandarua, Kirinyaga, and Garissa.

The BBI BIll has so far only been rejected by the Baringo County Assembly.
